"Just remember
In the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed that
With the sun's love
In the spring becomes the rose."
Remember that 80ish song by Bette Midler, arguably one of the positive
thinking greatest hits of all time?
This is winter literally for most of the northern hemisphere. It is
often winter metaphorically, too, as people suffer from increased
sadness and anxiety after a few months of cold, darkness and often
solitude.
But people can have winters at any time. People's hopes and dreams
get buried by the icy snow. Things can sometimes look pretty bleak.
At times like this, let's remember Bette Midler's words and help
nurture that seed beneath the snow.
May you live all the days of your life,
David Leonhardt,
The Happy Guy
